Description

Our client, a high-growth, innovative organization, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Controller. This position will play a critical leadership role managing daily financial operations, optimizing internal controls, and delivering insights that support executive decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a growing finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, revenue recognition, inventory, cost accounting, and government accounting
  • Supervise global payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely compensation across multiple jurisdictions. Maintain compliance with tax reporting and regulatory filings
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Coordinate annual audit processes, manage internal controls, and support regulatory reporting requirements
  • Partner with leadership on budget planning, forecasting, and financial modeling to support business strategy
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements and systems enhancements to support scaling operations. Participate in the selection and implementation of future accounting and ERP systems
  • Oversee tax compliance and support government grant reporting and proposal development
  • Work closely with operations, HR, legal, and external advisors to ensure seamless financial processes across the business

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and financial experience, with strong leadership capabilities
  • Background in public accounting (Big 4/7) or consulting required
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and financial compliance
  • Strong understanding of financial operations including payroll, treasury, procurement, and international/multi-currency accounting
  • Skilled in ERP/accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Sage), Excel, and data analysis tools
  • Experience in a scaling or high-growth business preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into business insights
  • Experience with grant accounting or working in regulated environments is a plus
  • High integrity, strong attention to detail, and a proactive mindset
