Description
Our client, a non-profit organization, has an immediate opening for a Grant Accountant. This role will oversee financial activity related to grants and contracts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a financial business partner to Division Directors and Program Managers, providing guidance on all financial aspects of assigned divisions and related programs
- Oversee all revenue and expenses for assigned divisions, ensuring proper accounting and compliance
- Prepare monthly financial reports and develop budget-to-actual variance analysis in collaboration with division and program managers
- Assist in developing annual budgets for each assigned program and division for submission to upper management
- Forecast financial revenue and expenses as needed
- Process and approve vendor payments, ensuring accurate allocation to appropriate GL codes
- Develop and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual billing reports for local, state, and federal funding sources, including salary schedules, payment vouchers, statistics, and progress reports
- Conduct periodic meetings with Division and Program Managers to review contract expenses and revenue status
- Work with program staff to ensure contract documents are properly signed and submitted in a timely manner
- Participate in agency and funding authority audits and contract monitoring, preparing necessary schedules
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information in accordance with federal and state regulations
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, program requirements, and funder regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience; nonprofit accounting experience preferred
- At least 2 years of grant accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with Abila MIP Accounting Software or other nonprofit accounting systems is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, and adaptable to change
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
