Description
Our client, a leading provider of childhood instructional programs, is hiring a Sr. Human Resources Generalist. This role will support the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including onboarding staff, supporting payroll, benefits and leave administration, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct new hire onboarding/orientation, employee recognition programs, and other training programs when needed
- Perform tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, recruiting, and leave administration
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Assist with employee relations matters, including conducting investigations when required, working with managers to resolve issues, and all associated administrative requirements to ensure effective resolution and compliance with all employment laws
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of compliance requirements and changes to assist in the preparation of required action steps and metrics and assist with the coordination of state and federal reporting requirements
- Assist with the compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Support the Recruiter function with posting jobs, scheduling interviews, and performing initial candidate screening for open positions
- Other responsibilities as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field or equivalent job experience required
- Proven experience working in a Human Resources Generalist role, with three to five years of experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of multi-state and federal employment-related laws and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of leave absence laws and administration, state specific and national regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint preferred
- HRIS and talent management systems proficiency
- Excellent organizational skills and attention-to-detail; proven ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates self-initiative with the ability to solve problems and answer questions independently but also understands when and how to elevate matters to the appropriate management level
